LE  TRÈFLE  ROSE

“THE  PINK   CLOVER”

Emmanuelle and Renata created the association in June 2018. The two women met a long time ago, when Renata was taking care of Emmanuelle’s children. Step by step, they became good friends. Last year they decided to create the association The Pink Clover, to help disabled people integrate the working industry. At first the idea came from Renata’s daughter, a young woman having the Down syndrome.

Later on, they had the idea to create a restaurant where disabled people will be able to work under professional’s supervision.

But how can we integrate the disabled people into the working industry?

The integration of disabled people into the working world is growing. In fact, in the hospitality and catering industry, some restaurants have opened in order to offer them employment. This allows them to live like a normal person in the world of work. Employees can work at their own pace despite their difficulties. However, they need adapted materials and adapted working hours.

For customers, this experience favors social action and the development of restaurant markets. Furthermore, new concepts like this one are initiated and created. When customers go to eat at this type of restaurant, they spend more time than in a standard restaurant because the main objective is not to have a fast meal but rather, take the time to learn and carry out a full service on their own.

Of course, other sectors exist in which disabled people can work. Some associations such as “The Pink Clover” introduce them into the world of employment.

DOES The restaurant neeD some adjustments to welcome the disabled people?

Adjustments for disabled people (Down syndrome) are a primordial thing.

In fact, you need ergonomic dishes to favor the service and take control of the dishes for disabled people.

Concerning the workplace, it’s necessary for the disabled people that the tables are spaced to facilitate their movement.

Moreover the tables must be lower than normal because disabled people have a size below the normal average (around 1m40).
